Entry one

My first day in 7th grade, it was only a few weeks ago, but it felt like months. We had a new teacher, and a new assistant. The assistant was nice, but the teacher, not so much. The new teacher was taking over the position of English Language Arts(ELA)and she did not make a good first impression.
The first ELA class we went to, she had us put all of our pencils and things into boxes so the teachers could keep track of them, like something you would do in a kindergarten.I'll just refer to the teacher as M. M also made us label everything we put into our boxes with our names.
The year before, our ELA teacher was great. His lessons were full of history, and they were engaging. M, said she was not going to teach us about the history behind things, and her classes so far have not been engaging.
M also keeps saying that we're being disrespectful because we're talking to our friends, but we're only talking to our friends because the things she tells us to do haven't been engaging, so we talk to our friends for something to do.
The "work" we've done is as follows:
Gluing pieces of a story in our journal.
Highlighting the pieces of story that we glued in our journal.
Folding origami butterflies.
Do any of these things sound like 7th grade work? No. Then why are we doing it? Because the work "doesn't have a grade level".
I think I've covered the gist of the first month so far. See you next post.
